OARacle Newsletter

We are excited to announce the creation of our Scholars’ Society and hope to increase the ways in which we can network and connect our scholars with meaningful employment and vocational-oriented opportunities. OAR’s Scholars’ Society for recipients of OAR’s scholarships provides opportunities for personal and professional growth through:

  • Increasing communication between OAR and the scholars, and between scholars and their peers through online platforms.
  • Providing scholars with information about OAR’s resources.
  • Offering a quarterly email featuring tips and information relevant to the scholars.
  • Assisting scholars as they transition to their next phase of life after secondary school.

Currently, there are 62 inaugural members. Any past or current recipient of an OAR scholarship program is eligible for membership. To become a member, email Ben VanHook, community support coordinator, at info@researchautism.org.

OAR created the Scholars’ Society to offer long-term engagement and support for students who have received awards through the Schwallie Family Scholarship, Lisa Higgins Hussman Scholarship, Synchrony Scholarship for Autistic Students of Color, and Synchrony Tech Scholarship.  Since 2007, OAR has awarded $1,552,500 to 503 autistic students through those scholarship programs.
