News and Knowledge

In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, OAR teamed up with Danny Combs, president and founder of Teaching the Autism Community Trades (TACT), to deliver a free webinar event on October 8. During “Autism and the Skilled Trades,” Combs discussed critical topics such as how to help organizations find community partners and scaffold their training to set up students/clients for success. More than 280 attendees also learned how to assess the skills and talents of individuals with autism to find legitimate careers and employment opportunities around those abilities.

If you missed the live event or want a refresher, you can watch the recorded “Autism and the Skilled Trades.”

Of the 50 participants who provided feedback:

  • 100 percent reported the content as being helpful and relevant to their needs.
  • 100 percent reported that they were likely to participate in another OAR webinar event.
  • On a scale of 1-10, 94 percent rated the overall webinar session as an 8 or higher.

While the majority of attendees were from the United States, several attendees logged in from countries around the world, including Canada, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Greece.

“I’m so thrilled to be able to be part of this webinar since the topic is so very important!!!!!!!!” wrote an English teacher in Chile.
