OAR’s newest scholarship, the Synchrony Scholarship for Autistic Students of Color, is being made available in partnership with the Disabilities Diversity Network at Synchrony, a Fortune 150 company, as part of their national “Education as an Equalizer” initiative.

The Synchrony Scholarship for Autistic Students of Color provides targeted financial support for autistic students of color pursuing postsecondary education. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

• Have a documented medical or educational autism diagnosis.
• Belong to an underrepresented racial/ethnic minority group.
• Be enrolled in an accredited postsecondary institution of higher education in the United States.
• Not have received an OAR scholarship in any previous year.

Students attending or admitted to any kind of accredited postsecondary institution (including two- or four-year undergraduate colleges; life skills or postsecondary programs; or vocational, technical, or trade schools) are eligible to apply.

The Synchrony Scholarship for Autistic Students of Color joins OAR’s two longstanding scholarships, the Schwallie Family Scholarship and the Lisa Higgins Hussman Scholarship. All scholarships offer $3,000 awards to autistic students to support their postsecondary education. Applications for the 2022 cycle will open on December 6, 2021.
