OARacle Newsletter

This spring, OAR’s Hire Autism Program sprang forward with eight new talented volunteers who became navigators. With their assistance and those of all our navigators, job seekers gain new confidence and skills to prepare them for their job search.

Please congratulate Melanie C., Sarah D., Nick D., Marcy E., Pamela H., Vanessa R., John S., and Cynthia W.!

These volunteers come from various personal and professional backgrounds with titles like talent acquisition lead, special education teacher, director of instructional design, associate faculty, business analyst, paralegal, assistant dean of academic affairs, and chief medical officer.

By helping to refine resumes, cover letters, and interview skills, navigators play a vital role in preparing job seekers for the job search and equipping them with the tools to meet their employment goals. Andrea C., a former job seeker, shared, “My navigator explained the recruiting process from the recruiter’s point of view. Suddenly, my applications stopped getting auto-rejected, and I started getting e-mails, phone screens, and interviews. And one day, it was an offer! I couldn’t have done it without my navigator. Without exaggeration, this program changed my life.”
