News and Knowledge

hireautismballoon2Since October, Hire Autism has helped 17 individuals find meaningful work in a variety of positions. In addition to the registration processes for jobseekers and employers, the website features links to many autism-friendly employers and an average of 25 available jobs listed weekly. After wrapping up its demonstration phase this summer, Hire Autism will expand to reach job seekers and new employers in the greater Washington, DC region later this year.

It will also add a new support for job seekers in the second half of the year: the Hire Autism Advocates program, which will match jobseekers with mentors who can assist them throughout the job search process. The Advocate program will follow the pattern of personalized attention Hire Autism currently offers applicants in finding jobs. OAR plans to have up to 10 Hire Autism advocates assisting applicants by the end of this year.

How to Get Started: Job Seekers

Get started on Hire Autism to receive job search tips and job postings at autism-friendly companies. After creating a profile on the site, job seekers can also upload a resume and create a cover letter through the site. In some cases, applicants may be directed to a company’s website career page to complete an application for the job they are interested in. Applicants can also find useful employment tips on the resource page. For assistance, please email help@hireautism.org.
