Employment Webinar Series: two webinars in October-November 2021October has marked a celebration of disabled people in the workplace since 1945. Now known as National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), this occasion invites all people to recognize the challenges and accomplishments of disabled workers and the importance of disability inclusion in the workplace.

In honor of NDEAM, OAR is excited to present its Employment Webinar Series. The two webinars in this series will focus on supporting autistic people in the workplace and offer expert information for parents, educators, employers, and autistic individuals.

In How to Empower Youth For Employment & Adult Life, Christina Eagle, Arlington Public Schools’ Program for Employment Preparedness coordinator, will share practical advice to empower autistic young adults with skills that will enable them to be successful in employment and in the development of their transition plan. Eagle will be joined by Arlington County students sharing their experiences. This webinar will take place on Thursday, October 14, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM EDT.

In Employment Supports for Transition-Aged Autistic Youth, Jennifer McDonough and Alissa Brooke, Virginia Commonwealth University faculty members, will provide information about specific workplace supports that can assist autistic individuals in obtaining and maintaining community-integrated employment. This webinar will take place on Wednesday, November 17, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM EST.

Find out more and register to attend. Registration is free, and participants will receive a certificate of attendance. For those who cannot attend the live events, the webinars will be archived on OAR’s website. For questions, contact programs @researchautism.org.
