“Finding Your Way: A College Guide for Students on the Spectrum,” OAR’s guide for young adults
with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), recently won a Health & Wellness Design Award in a Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) competition. From more than 1,500 entries, judges picked just 150 winners.
Graphic designer Lisa Cain noted that “Graphic Design USA is one of the top ‘go to’ design resources in the graphic design community. They’ve been around for 55 years. Over 100,000 professionals see the winning designs.”
When asked what made the College Guide a good entry for the competition, Cain noted that it is “a resource with an incredible amount of information that not only stands out and is beautifully put together, it also builds awareness. The College Guide is an extremely important resource for the autism community. We put a lot of effort into creating the guide, and I wanted to share it with the world.”
Cain has worked with OAR since 2008, designing a number of guides, logos, and brochures, including the Kit for Kids and the sibling guides. She found OAR when she was looking for resources on its website for her son, who is on the autism spectrum. “I thought that doing design work for OAR would be a great service. I could help other children, families, and caretakers.”
