A new scholarship puts the spotlight on kids whose efforts often go unrecognized in the autism world, the siblings of children with autism. Ernie Black was inspired to start the scholarship after watching how his oldest child, Sydney, put her own needs behind those of her autistic sister, Regan. Feeling that he had to do something, he filed a 501c3 application and solicited donations from businesses to fund a scholarship. The scholarship, called Sydney has a Sister, gives out $1000 to 6 future college freshmen with siblings on the spectrum. Read the full story by Michele Miller of the Tampa Bay Times here.
