We are excited to announce that OAR’s new, expanded Hire Autism website launched on March 31. The new site features more jobs board search filters, a searchable resource library, an events calendar, a user accessibility widget, profile and job board navigation tutorials, personalized job alerts, and improved employer-candidate search capabilities.
Following Hire Autism’s demonstration project in Northern Virginia and our national debut in January 2020, we have attracted job seekers and employers from across the country. Our new site allows us to better meet the needs of those within our growing network and move the program closer to realizing our vision of becoming the autism employment hub.
“Thanks to the efforts of many people and organizations, including OAR in the last five years, businesses are now more open to hiring autistic employees,” says Michael Maloney, OAR executive director. “We expect that Hire Autism and the capabilities of our new website will help open even more doors for our job seekers.”
While we encourage all visitors to check out the new site, here is a snapshot of what you can expect and some of the latest additions to the site.
Delineated pathways make it easier to navigate the site and find information based on your needs directly from the homepage. The “I Want to Help” block is intended for community members, volunteers, educators, and parents.
Our updated jobs board allows you to filter jobs using various search filters, including keywords, industry, and type of position to help quickly find jobs that match your skills and qualifications.
Resources are now broken down by user and category. This function aims to make it easier for you to navigate our resources based on the type of information you are looking for. Check out the complete resource center.
Requesting to work with a Hire Autism navigator — a volunteer mentor — has also gotten easier. After creating an account on the website, you can request help from a navigator within their profile. Navigators can support you with various aspects of the job search, including resume, cover letter, and interview prep.
Our events calendar is populated with various autism-employment events, including resource fairs, hiring events, seminars, workshops, etc.
Additionally, if you are looking to post an event that you or your organization is hosting, you can do so using the “Submit Event” button below the events calendar.
Schools, colleges, and community groups can now request presentations from Hire Autism through our website. So, if you are interested in having us host virtual resume writing sessions for your students or share more about our program, we have got you covered. Interested in requesting a presentation?
