News and Knowledge

There is still time to join OAR’s annual outreach campaign during Autism Awareness Month. You can support any of our ongoing initiatives as a volunteer in April and beyond.

This month, we want to let you know about OAR’s youth education leaders. These young people are committed to teaching students in grades K-8 about their peers with autism. They serve a critical role in fostering more inclusive learning environments by raising awareness and acceptance of autism. If you are interested in starting your own school initiative, join us by applying online. All youth education leaders are eligible to receive a t-shirt and volunteer credit for their service.

Other volunteer opportunities include:

  • Autism materials distributors: Share OAR informational materials about autism with neighbors, parent groups, first responders, clinicians, schools, libraries, and more.
  • Blog contributors: Share personal stories and advice about autism on the OAR blog or Hire Autism blog.
  • Newsletter contributors: Write timely news reports from the autism community or share your expert knowledge through The OARacle’s How To section.
  • RUN FOR AUTISM: Assist staff during expo and marathon events.

If you are interested in volunteering and have questions, please contact programs@researchautism.org. If you know someone who is interested in volunteering with OAR, please share this flyer with him or her.
