connecticutThis year’s fourth annual Southpoint Capital Advisors Charitable Golf Outing took place on Monday, July 17, and raised $200,000 for OAR and additional funds for another nonprofit organization. The golf outing has raised a total of $612,000 for OAR in the three years that OAR has been a beneficiary.

OAR will use the proceeds from this year’s event to help fund new research studies beginning in January and support its Autism in the Schoolhouse initiative and major upgrades to OAR’s resources for military families, the Operation Autism website and “Life Journey Through Autism: A Guide for Military Families.”

After the golf game, the 108 participating golfers and guests enjoyed a reception and awards ceremony followed by dinner. The dinner program included remarks and short video presentations by each charity. OAR chairman, Jim Sack, and executive director, Mike Maloney, spoke briefly for OAR.

Sack thanked Anthony J. Buffalano, III, chief financial officer and partner at Southpoint, and all the supporting companies and players for their support and promised that “OAR will spend this money wisely and well.”

Maloney introduced a video that featured two families describing OAR’s impact on their lives and read a thank-you letter from one of OAR’s scholarship recipients. In addition to Sack and Maloney, Lori Lapin Jones, OAR vice chairwoman, Bill Donlon, board member, and Kristen Essex, business manager, represented OAR at the event.

“The Southpoint Team takes the charities’ missions to heart. They present us with a check for $200,000 and thank us for being there,” noted Maloney after the event. “It’s remarkable. We are grateful beyond words to Southpoint Capital Advisors for highlighting autism, choosing OAR, and raising so much money for two amazing charities.”
