Brittany Spence, OAR’s new Hire Autism associate, joined the staff at the end of November. Spence’s primary roles
include recruiting, training, and managing volunteer navigators and monitoring communication with Hire Autism job seekers. Navigators are volunteers who work one-on-one with job seekers on aspects of the job search, including creating a resume, writing cover letters, and preparing for interviews. Spence also plays a role in Hire Autism’s marketing and outreach efforts.
When asked what she is looking forward to in her new position, Spence said, “I am excited to connect with our job seekers, navigators, and others in this wonderful community. I value helping others and look forward to contributing to our mission of improving employment opportunities and creating inclusive workplaces. What an amazing opportunity to learn from and collaborate with the OAR staff!”
Before coming to OAR, Spence worked for five years in the preclinical research field. She was inspired to join the OAR team by her relationship with her future sister-in-law, who has autism. Read her bio on OAR’s website.
