News and Knowledge

OAR is looking for military families in the autism community to serve as community reviewers for our updated military initiative resources. Reviewers help us ensure that the updated resources will be relevant and easy to use for as many service members and their families as possible.

In 2009, OAR created the Operation Autism website to give military families 24/7 access to autism information, including a base-by-base resource directory. In 2010, OAR released “Life Journey through Autism: A Guide for Military Families,” a comprehensive guide that has been distributed free of charge to thousands of service members around the world. Over the past year, OAR has been working to update both the guidebook and website for military families to reflect the many changes to healthcare, education, and other aspects of autism and military life.

The community review period will take place in November, in preparation for the launch of the updated website and guidebook by the end of 2018. If you are a member of a military family impacted by autism and are interested in serving as a reviewer, please contact programs@researchautism.org.
