News and Knowledge

Saman Kamgar-Parsi joined OAR on November 30 as a programs and outreach associate. In her new role, she hopes to “improve the accessibility of OAR’s programs through developing new resources and initiatives to reflect what the community needs as well as updating some of the resources that have become outdated but are still full of excellent information.”

Before joining OAR, she worked as an elementary school teacher and helped to run an empowerment program for girls through music education. She graduated from Barnard College.

She is drawn to OAR and its mission because of OAR’s direct focus on programs, resources, and research that can improve day-to-day life for the autism community as soon as possible. She explains that her cousin, who is now in his 40s, has Asperger Syndrome. “When he was growing up, no one really had the knowledge or background to support him.”

As she settles in her job, she is “enjoying how committed the staff clearly is to doing the highest quality work possible.”
