Kristen Essex was recently promoted to deputy executive director at OAR, after having been OAR’s business manager for three years. Jim Sack, the chairman of OAR’s board of directors announced the promotion at the annual dinner for the Scientific Council and Board of Directors on October 15. As Mike Maloney, executive director, relates the story, it was a touching moment for everyone: “Kristen did not know anything about it. It was extra special because all of OAR’s board leaders, Scientific Council members, staff, and her sister, Ashley, were present. Jim made her cry!”
The promotion recognizes the role Essex has grown into since she began working at OAR, Maloney says. “In every way, she is the #2 person here with insight and input on all things OAR.”
Essex is currently enjoying another new role, mom to a baby girl, Sloane Olivia, who was born November 14. She will be back at OAR from maternity leave in mid-February.
