News and Knowledge

Last month, Hire Autism celebrated its second anniversary since its national debut and its fifth year since launching the program in 2017. As the program grows, we are excited to announce the launch of a new volunteer pilot program, the Regional Ambassador Program.

Hire Autism Ambassador ProgramRegional ambassadors will help Hire Autism to expand its network of employer partners and increase the number of employment opportunities available to autistic job seekers. The regional ambassador role is perfect for anyone with business leadership and development experience who is passionate about creating opportunities for autistic people in the workplace.

Regional ambassadors will commit to one to two hours a week for six to 12 months with the goal of recruiting at least two to three new companies each month. The volunteer ambassadors will receive virtual training consisting of a three-hour curriculum delivered live and on-demand over the course of two weeks. Training topics include information about Hire Autism, the business case for hiring autistic employees, and tracking contacts/outreach attempts using HubSpot.

Through this pilot, Hire Autism will assess the effectiveness of the program and refine training and processes.

“Just as the navigators have allowed us to more effectively support jobseekers across the country,” said Mike Maloney, OAR executive director, “the ambassadors are going to give Hire Autism local presence and impact, ultimately leading to more opportunities in more places for our jobseekers.”
