News and Knowledge

In celebration of Autism Acceptance Month this April, OAR teamed up with several experts on autism and health to deliver our Health Webinar Series. The series covered the latest research on health and healthcare for autistic youth and adults, developments in autism-specific suicide prevention tools, and attempts to address accessibility barriers in healthcare for autistic adults.

Of the 507 registrants to these three webinars, 188 people attended the live events. Of the 118 participants who provided feedback, 98 percent reported the content as being helpful and relevant to their needs. 92 percent reported that they were likely to participate in another OAR webinar event. One attendee at the Mental Health Priorities and Suicide Prevention event expressed, “What a wonderful presentation and an important topic that is not discussed enough. Thank you!”

The recorded archived versions of the webinars have already received over 250 views on OAR’s YouTube channel. OAR will continue to cover many of these important issues in our OARacle mental health series this summer. Our next webinar series in the fall will focus on employment, another crucial topic for autistic young adults and their families. Stay tuned for more information on upcoming webinar events!
