News and Knowledge

Corinne_NewsletterCorinne Gambacurta recently joined OAR staff as an intern for the fall and spring semesters. She is a senior at The George Washington University double majoring in public health and math and minoring in business administration.

Her interest in OAR is due in part to her sister, Sophia. “She has autism and that has affected my family tremendously.  Her diagnosis drove me to study public health, as I am now really interested in the availability of healthcare services and how they are delivered to people living with disabilities.” After she graduates in May, Gambacurta plans to pursue a career that will contribute to positive change for the community of people with disabilities.  “I saw OAR as an opportunity to become involved and learn more about something that I can potentially see myself doing for my future career.”

Gambacurta notes that she has already been able to polish her professional writing skills in the internship. She also appreciates the trust that her supervisors have in her ability to accomplish her assigned projects independently. “I feel like a valued member of the team and that has been greatly enjoyable to me.”
