RUN FOR AUTISM

Marie NierenbergClear skies and cool temperatures blessed the Big Apple on November 4th as over 50,000 people ran through all five boroughs and completed the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon.  For the 8th year in a row RUN FOR AUTISM was partnered with the NYC Marathon and 2018 proved to be a record year for the RUN FOR AUTISM NYC Team.

The Organization for Autism Research had an amazing team of 64 RUN FOR AUTISM runners participate who have raised an amazing $150,000, with more money still coming in.  Both numbers are new records for the RUN FOR AUTISM NYC Team.  Tatyana Sirota led the way to the record fundraising amount raising an incredible $9,170!  Kevin Plattenburg well exceeded the fundraising minimum as well, finishing with $6,475 raised.

There was perfect weather on race morning to help the RUN FOR AUTISM NYC team tackle all five boroughs of NYC.  Orlando Geigel was OAR’s first marathon finisher with an impressive time of 3:13:12 and Kelly Posch was the first female finisher at 3:32:50. RUN FOR AUTISM alum Luis Placenscia finished with an impressive 4:31:07, just one week after running the Marine Corps Marathon with OAR.  Team members were in high spirits throughout the race enjoying all of the sights and sounds of New York City.  Congratulations to the entire team, especially to those who ran PR’s or were first time marathoners!

The entire RUN FOR AUTISM staff is looking forward to another successful race weekend next year!  Interested in participating in one of the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon?  Join our 2019 interest list!
