Youth Poetry Project
Poetry Collection Featuring Autistic Youth
Organized by Dr. Jessica McAleer
For event questions, contact: autisticpoetryproject@gmail.com
Dr. Jessica McAleer and her 7-year-old autistic daughter, Ryleigh, are putting together something special, a poetry collection written entirely by autistic children and youth. They’re inviting young autistic poets from across the country to share their words, their creativity, and their unique perspectives.
This project is a labor of love, inspired by Ryleigh’s growing passion for poetry and her wish to connect with others like her. Together, they hope to amplify autistic voices and raise awareness through the beauty of poetry.
Who Can Participate?
Autistic children and youth up to age 16.
All communication styles are welcome: typed, handwritten, spoken (transcribed), or AAC-assisted.

What Will Happen with the Poems?
