Welcome OAR’s Summer Intern | Organization for Autism Research

OAR News

Sophie Thurschwell is OAR’s newest intern, having started a summer internship on May 29 that will continue through August 16. Thurschwell recently compst big pic 2leted her freshman year at Kenyon College and will transfer to the University of Michigan for her sophomore year. She plans to major in biopsychology, cognition, and neuroscience.

With family members on the spectrum, she came to OAR because she “admires its work so much.” Prior to beginning the internship, she read through some of the material in the sibling guidebooks, which solidified her desire to contribute to OAR’s work so that she could help family members looking for information and support.

She expects the value of the internship to be in the variety of projects and perspectives she will be exposed to while she is at OAR. “It’s still only my second week here, but I have already had the privilege of working on the scholarship program, social media posts, relevant news articles, and more. I’m excited to continue learning from the different experiences and opinions of all members of OAR and the autism community.”
