DIY – Athletic Events
OAR is pleased to offer the DIY – Athletic Events program, which allows you to participate in any run, walk, triathlon or other event- anywhere, anytime, at any distance.
Simply sign-up for the race and start getting family, friends and others to sponsor you as you dedicate your athletic competition to raising funds for autism research.
Join the Team
1. Register for a race
This can be any race you want! If you don’t have a particular race in mind, just search for races in your area and find one that sounds good to you.
2. Sign up with OAR
You can register for the DIY – Athletic Events team here.
3. Set-up your fundraising page
Share your story about why you decided to RUN FOR AUTISM. Make sure to add photos!
4. Start fundraising
Use social media and email to share your page with friends and family. You may want to consider making a donation to your page before you send it out so that people know you are serious about this cause.
- RUN FOR AUTISM t-shirt and race singlet
- Personal staff support
- RUN FOR AUTISM team e-mails with training and fundraising tips
- OAR finisher’s medal
DIY – Athletic Events team members are encouraged to set their own fundraising goal. There is no “right” number; your commitment is what matters. Still, there is no harm in setting a lofty goal. You will likely be surprised by the number of people who will want to support you and this worthy cause.
If you are running a half or full marathon, consider setting a goal of $1,310 or $2,620 to match your mileage. Runners who raise $2,500 or more receive an OAR runner’s jacket as a special “thank you.”
