Celebrate Autism Awareness Month With An All New 5K!

In April 2019, the Organization for Autism Research will be hosting the inaugural Active For Autism 5K!  This 5K will help spread autism awareness while raising money to fund new research, help award scholarships to students on the spectrum, and provide free resources to families and educators.

The race is family and autism friendly featuring a safe, flat, out and back course along the Potomac Yard Trail in Alexandria, VA.  There will also be a kids dash and post-race party so bring your friends and family for a fun filled morning!  What are you waiting for?  Register today!

5K RACE COURSE

Start/Finish: George Washington Middle School
Just East of the parking lots, on Main Line Blvd

The 5k is an out and back course that runs parallel to the Potomac Yard Trail along the paved streets Main Line Blvd and Potomac Ave. Flat and fast, this course is perfect for running or walking and no problem for those planning on participating with strollers.

There will be one water station along the course by the Regal Cinemas Potomac Yard 16, at the race turn around point ~mile 1.5.

KIDS DASH RACE COURSE

Start/Finish: George Washington Middle School
Just East of the parking lots, on Main Line Blvd

The race is free for kids ages 5-12 years old but registration is needed for the event. Check-in at the packet pickup table race morning to pickup your child’s bib #. The race is non-competitive and not timed. Parents are more than welcome to run or walk with your child.
